I often do interpretative twists when painting realism. My subject was a cherry blossom tree. Rather than painting a typical scene of a cherry blossom tree against the blue sky, I instead painted it so that the sky was orange red and the tree with tints of blue. I painted this with essentially inverted colors in mind. Thus, the title of this piece was born. The sides of this work are painted, in continuation of the painting on the front, so there's no frame needed.
I am a 33 year old self taught artist currently living in High Point, NC. I love to paint abstracts with vivid, earthy colors. I also like to do partially 3D paintings, where I work on canvas, and bring out some areas of the painting with foam, as well as objects that correspond to the painting. Some of these partial 3D works are abstract while most are more realistic. For those that are realistic, I try to enliven them with strong colors or an interesting sense of movement as well.
