This is a piece from "To Be" series. It is an improvised piece on Chinese paper, I used Chinese ink and brushes. Colors are so crisp and transparent. In different part of the piece in a black ink I wrote the word " I am" , "To Be" , " I am alive" in Farsi

Sayeh "Saya" Behnam was born in Tehran-Iran and moved to the USA in 20 years ago. Living on three continents helped her to view life from different perspectives. Coming from the Middle East, an area with so much turmoil such as war and revolution had a deep impact on her view on life. Her art is not political, but she deals with the core concept of a human being. She is very active in social and humanitarian art activities with some NGOs in the Middle East and the USA, especially with street children. She currently lives in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
