My world shrank 2 years ago. It shrank to 6lbs. and 20" that needed lots of quiet and all my attention. He was wonderful but I felt so enclosed. Air pollution from nearby forest fires kept us indoors; feeding issues kept us on the couch and me out of the studio...the walls were closing in. I longed for broad expanses and distant vistas; anything but the walls of our home or the streets of our town. I'd take walks alone at sunset and feel that the sky expressed my longing for vibrance and drama and grandeur when I could not. Once I was able to start carving out regular studio time I felt so much joy depicting skyscapes. This painting still fills me with a sense of triumph.
