Ready to Hang
I created this piece in 2013 during my first painting course at the University of North Texas. During this time, I struggled to find confidence and happiness within myself at the time. I had a thought that if I could visually see myself as an expressive and imaginative being, what I felt were some of my better qualities, I could pull myself out of the downward pull. I titled this piece "Halcyon," which is defined as denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful (it is also a species of bird with brightly colored plumage).
Sarah Pippins is a New Media artist who just recently earned her BFA in New Media Arts through the University of North Texas in Denton. Her gallery work, which has been shown in Denton and DFW, usually consists of video installations and interactive works, but she also enjoys painting and drawing. She has several pieces that are in private collections across Texas. Drawing and painting gives her a chance to study the beauty in every day life, or to work through her emotions and analyze her relationships with herself and others. She hopes that her art can help inspire others to search for a deeper understanding of themselves, as well.
