Ready to Hang

Painting is my favorite medium even if I also use the other media available to me: drawing, photography, digital, sometimes video and sculpture. I approach my work by a long intellectual and plastic reflection (sketches, notes, texts ...) whose culmination is a model of the desired plastic image, often carried out on Photoshop, then I realize the work most often on canvas (acrylic or oil). The final work is often very different from the original model. I present a fantastic but orderly and extremely aesthetic universe that is inscribed itself in the reality. My work reflects the noisy silence full of uncertainty of our time, I question my contemporaries on our choices for the future, submitting images of the past imprinted of human presence. Some images require the viewer a specific culture that a text accompanying the work can bring to him. Some recurring themes in my work are related to childhood, childhood hopes and disillusionment of adulthood, as Friedrich Schiller's vision in his poem "Resignation."

Santoni Patrick is a Corsican artist born in 1964, working in painting, video and mixed media. He lives and works in France. He studied at the ESBA in Angers (« Higher School of Fine Arts » of Angers, France), from 1983 to 1986 in the architecture section, leading in parallel classical guitar studies. Santoni Patrick began his painting by Street Art during his studies at the ESBA of Angers. Jean-Michel Basquiat was his first inspirer, as his elder, he went into workshop where he dropped the aerosols for brushes. His very graphic and protesting work led him gradually towards a more realistic, always rebellious painting, the aesthetic became publicity punctuated by provocative slogans, a smooth painting without matter or little, like the classic painters, he uses systematically the sfumato. After several professional steps (furniture design, product design, web design), he decided to focus on painting in 2002. In 2010, he questioned his work, and began a work of study in small format based on the landscape with support for photography, a return to the sources, which led him today towards a more pictorial work, with More material and more transparency. His landscapes always have this note of protest that characterizes the artist, they reveal an ideological commitment, a societal drift, sometimes underlined by the title, they are often related to childhood, hopes born in childhood and disillusionment of adulthood. His work is not only visual, it raises a question, opens a debate.
