I saw my first Impressionist painting as a young child in the St Louis Art Museum and knew the Impressionists would be my favored group of artists. My artistic work has always been in oils and through many classes and private lessons, I found using the palette knife has allowed me to add the rich texture of the oils to create the landscapes I paint. I was fortunate enough to live and work in Chicago for many years and supported the arts in Chicago with frequents trips with my children to the Art Institute of Chicago. My three children are all artists and help me appreciate the richness of the landscapes I see and to turn them into impressionistic paintings. I have lived and worked in other countries and the many photographs I take become subjects for my impressionistic work. I use the brightest colors of my paint and the thickness of the oil paint with the palette knife to bring the landscapes to life on the canvas.

Sandra Daffron is an impressionist painter living in Bellingham, Washington. Sandra has been painting in the Northwest for many years, and enjoys painting the magical scenery and light that makes this such a beautiful area. Spring and Summer months often finds her painting outside in the plein air style, while the Winter months bring mostly studio work. For Sandra, painting is a continual growth process which usually involves creating several paintings a time. As a world traveler, Sandra paints her impressions of the vast beauty she sees of the world's oceans, sunsets, islands, forests and mountains. A lifelong Monet fan, Sandra emulates his work using palette knife to grasp the strokes of the oil paint.
