Ready to Hang
I started this painting on Christmas in 2012. My friends all wanted to go kayaking but I stayed and painted this scene. It is a limited palette. This painting is another one of those that I create from my imagination.
It was a sunny day but I imagined how it would look at night with the lunar eclipse.
My name is Ginger Anne Sandell. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. I was raised in Maryland and then moved to southern Calif where I attended collage for a while. Then I visited Hawaii, came back to the mainland, and sold all my possessions and moved to Hawaii. I have lived here now since 1975. I raised four sons on the island. I was a self taught artist for many years and stopped painting in the mid 1980s as I had to complete my education and raise my sons. When clients saw my paintings in my office they encouraged me to paint again. I started painting with a group of plein air painters and the paintings just came pouring out. I enrolled in the Academy of Art University in 2011 and am more than half way through earning my Masters of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Art University. II have exhibited in Hawaii, California, New York, and Florida. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. You can also see a lot more of my work on gingerannesandell.com.
