I was a self taught artist for many years and started painting in the early 1980s. I stopped painting for many years due to family commitments. In 2010 I switched from acrylic to oils and joined a plein air artist group. I am extremely prolific and passionate about my art. It gives me great joy when my paintings find a home with collectors. I am selling a lot of my earlier works on this website. I paint both en plein air and in my studio. I paint alla prima which is the lean to fat method of painting. For early stages of the painting I use gamsol which is very liquid and I paint thin layers of paint with that. Later I use other mediums such as neo meglip or galkyd lite. I also use linseed and walnut oil in the later stages of a painting. I hope that these paintings can bring peace and beauty to your home. Other paintings can be seen on my website. gingerannesandell.com.

My name is Ginger Anne Sandell. I live on the Big Island of Hawaii. I was raised in Maryland and then moved to southern Calif where I attended collage for a while. Then I visited Hawaii, came back to the mainland, and sold all my possessions and moved to Hawaii. I have lived here now since 1975. I raised four sons on the island. I was a self taught artist for many years and stopped painting in the mid 1980s as I had to complete my education and raise my sons. When clients saw my paintings in my office they encouraged me to paint again. I started painting with a group of plein air painters and the paintings just came pouring out. I enrolled in the Academy of Art University in 2011 and am more than half way through earning my Masters of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Art University. II have exhibited in Hawaii, California, New York, and Florida. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. You can also see a lot more of my work on gingerannesandell.com.
