Ready to Hang
This is a still life I did recently of these little votive candle holders that I like. I'm really happy with how it turned out. Especially the shadows. This painting looks really good in the frame I made for it. A nice piece. I was practicing a new signature on the bottom, which has since been changed.
I was born in Seattle and spent most of my life there. My start in art was cartooning and I briefly drew a comic strip for the Cooper Point Journal at The Evergreen State College. I then went into AmeriCorps for a year and finished my education at Washington State University. Later I joined the Coast Guard and used my GI Bill to begin work on my masters at San Diego University. I slowly became less and less involved in art. After suffering major losses involving family members, I began using art as a way to release pain. It worked well and I started painting and kept painting until I became obsessed with it. I knew I needed to hone my skills so I joined an atelier at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle and spent a few years expanding my skill set to allow me to truly express myself. Now I work out of my own studio in back yard in Shoreline, WA. I have an 18 month old little girl and another on the way who will join us in July!
