Photography was riveting for me. I grew up in an Italian immigrant home after the 2nd World War. Our home was filled with the ambiance of Italian sights, sounds, and customs. What was most mesmerizing was the community my family shared at the kitchen table. Here we talked every night at dinner, about our day. Italian women played an important role in my family. My mother left an impression on me that is still with me. These experiences shaped me and are the foundation of my art and creative expression.
In 1969, while on leave from the U.S. Navy, a friend invited me to a fashion shoot. That experience hooked me from that day on the allure of the magic of photography. When I returned to my base, I bought a camera and began making art instead of taking pictures.
As a fashion photographer, I discovered a tapestry of colors and emotions with my subjects. When dealing with the fashion models who I shot on a regular basis, I formed friendships. The key to being a fashion photographer is all about the moment. In Eastern philosophy itʼs called “No Mind”. I learned to focus on what is in front of me, not around me.

Over the years as a photographer, I developed an affinity for water-themed shots. Water is life. I like the way my subjects respond to the element of water. It has a calming and sensual effect on everyone. This relationship with water can be felt behind the lens as well. Im am currently working on a project ca;;ed "Sirens in Motion".

After the thousands of photographs I have done, I still approach each shoot with a special glint in my eye. With the same sensation, I had in 1969 when I saw my first fashion shoot. My eyes and spirit are as wide open as ever.

Today I am open to many other visual elements in my photography besides fashion. , The elements that first opened my eyes to photography. Returning to the beginning. Art is in the name.

All artwork up to 13in x 19in prints are printed by artist.

I was born in New York City 1947.  I first started photographing while in the US Navy.  During college, opportunities appeared and I began assisting.  Working with New York's leading fashion and fine art photographers during the 70s, an explosive period for fashion photography.  My assisting with Mel Dixon and Ken O'Hara, who both worked with Avedon and Hiro, taught me not only technique but valuable lessons on humanity.   I'am forever grateful to have been a part of that lineage.  I have worked both nationally and internationally, and photographed for the International Inside Out Project through a grant from Broward County.
