Painting is capturing a multi-dimensional world on a two-dimensional surface. its arranging colors and shapes in such a way as to suggest endless possibilities and depth of experience.
In life, one is confronted with rules every step of the way. Society imposes rules, one’s family has them, we tell ourselves what we can and can’t do, what we should be doing and we have what is acceptable and what isn’t any given culture. Then, there are the laws of physics.it could be fatal to not take head of the laws of physics. Don’t jump, and you’ll never be able to fly. Over the years, painting has led me to thinking, sometimes thinking too much and creating for myself more rules. However, it is this thought process that has made me aware, as I make art, that often the rules or beliefs that have kept me safe have also been limiting. I can look out at the context in which I find myself and all the art every made and see how this artist and that one broke through a perceived constraint and changed the rules. And, I can see that this collective rule breaking has led to the opening up of a space within the mind conducive to the creation of new realities. The creative art world, or for me, the world of painting, is a place of no constraints. Being as such, it can obviously be a bit overwhelming, but its this limitless place where the mind is able to operate without constraint. With this freedom, the mind is able to access and express .feelings, emotions, concept etc without fear of being right or wrong. One is able to create inventions not worrying if they work. Here I get to disobey without repercussion and i can fly with or without wings. This is the place where things yet to exist are conceived.
