Titled after a Rolling Stones song, this painting began as a conventional portrait, but inspiration from the model's pose, floral scarf, and sunglasses led to a change in direction to a sort of ethereal "flower- and color-burst of a portrait."
Ravi Raman is a Washington, DC-based contemporary painter who combines pop art, photorealism, and abstract expressionism in his works. Born in Trivandrum, India, Ravi immigrated with his family to America at the age of five. Inundated by American pop culture, television, movies, fashion, art, and especially music, he consumed all of it with a voracious appetite, as these influences still permeate much of his artwork. Also a lifelong musician, Ravi's musical influences inform many of his paintings through the frequent incorporation of musical imagery and bold colors to imbue a sense of rock & roll. Ravi debuted his paintings publicly in September 2015 at Washington, DC’s annual Art All Night – Nuit Blanche festival. The success of the group showing encouraged him to stage solo shows as well. Since early 2016, he has had numerous successful solo shows at various venues throughout Washington, DC. His shows now routinely draw large numbers of art aficionados as well as brisk sales. His paintings grace numerous private residences throughout the U.S.
