I am inspired by the outside world as well as by my emotions. I find inspiration in everyday items that I may see while I am walking the down the street or riding the train. Such as a tree, a flower or an interesting shaped inanimate object like the architectural elements of building. I will start to sketch or paint my interpretation of that object using the shapes and/ or colors to capture its essence. When the outside world doesn’t inspire me I use my artwork to express my feelings and workout any internal conflicts. I create art because I enjoy recreating what I see with my eyes and feel with my heart.
Hello my name is Rosemary Estrella, I work as a project architect in NYC. I have always loved to draw, paint, and have a creative outlet. As a child I spent hours drawing pictures or coloring in my coloring book; I always knew that I wanted to be an artist. I choose to study Architecture because I thought it would allow me to be creative while still working in practical way. However, I found myself not being as creative as I would have liked so I decided to return to my first loves painting and drawing. At first, I thought it wouldn't be the same but when you love something, it never leaves you. I am inspired by nature and architectural elements; I like to use my ability to combine different shapes to produce interesting abstract compositions for my pieces. I produce mixed media work, acrylic work on canvas, as well as digital paintings. I have commissioned pieces in NY and Philadelphia for residential and commercial spaces.
