Ready to Hang
I created this piece in a moment of frustration. Originally it was bare with organic shapes. It hung unfinished on the walls of my studio for a while until I recently finished it. The orginal shapes reminded me of a flower and I used the bright colors and textures to express the orginal feelings of intensity I had when the painting was first created.
Hello my name is Rosemary Estrella, I work as a project architect in NYC. I have always loved to draw, paint, and have a creative outlet. As a child I spent hours drawing pictures or coloring in my coloring book; I always knew that I wanted to be an artist. I choose to study Architecture because I thought it would allow me to be creative while still working in practical way. However, I found myself not being as creative as I would have liked so I decided to return to my first loves painting and drawing. At first, I thought it wouldn't be the same but when you love something, it never leaves you. I am inspired by nature and architectural elements; I like to use my ability to combine different shapes to produce interesting abstract compositions for my pieces. I produce mixed media work, acrylic work on canvas, as well as digital paintings. I have commissioned pieces in NY and Philadelphia for residential and commercial spaces.
