The title came from the colors of the painting, the red and orange colors mimicking the colors of a fire flame.
I created this piece during a professional art class. The model was a lovely Asian lady who was able to hold that painful pose for such an extended period of time.
I love adding clear blue colors in the shady areas of the painting, setting up a wonderful contrast with the hot colors of red and orange.
Famed dancer and choreographer Martha Graham once said, “All that is important is this one moment in movement.” This perfect “moment in movement” is what I strive to depict with oil on canvas. Be it with dancers or horses or other living things, I paint the power and grace of their motion, using fluid brushstrokes to show the strength and speed of galloping horses, or the elegance and energy of dancers.
