"Carmine" is part of a series of studies from life models. It incorporates a blend of graphite, charcoal, and acrylic paint on paper. I often do extensive sketches of life models in preparation for my larger paintings and sculptures. On occasion I am inspired to refine these works into finished paintings using acrylics.
The representation of the female figure as a life giving force, an icon of sexuality, and a symbol of nature dates back to the first works of art created by our ancestors. My art is an exploration into a primitive and intrinsic creative drive that connects me esthetically and conceptually to this long tradition.
My aim is to capture both the sensuality and the strength inherent in women. Two qualities that in modern times have been pitted against each other but which simply take us away from our roots; a time when reverence for nature, survival, and life itself defined us and shaped us.
Whether through sculpture or painting, the common thread of my art is to explore the female figure as a symbol of fertility and nature. Over the course of my artistic development my figures have evolved from stylized vessels to representations of fertility goddesses.

My name is Roneld Lores. Originally from Cuba, I moved to the United States at the age of eight and studied Fine Arts at New World School of the Arts and Florida International University, where I received a BFA in 1994 with a major in Ceramics & Sculpture. I have been an active part of the artist community for over 20 years. I currently live in Lowell, MA just 30 minutes north of downtown Boston. I share a beautiful art studio with my lovely wife Angela who is an oil painter. Our spacious loft style studio is in a renovated industrial mill that is home to over 300 working artists. One of my areas of concentration is the female figure. Strongly rooted in a classical foundation, my sculpture’s and paintings, abstract and fragment the female figure in a style that is loose and dynamic with elements of realism. My work has been exhibited and is in private collections throughout the Americas and Europe. Thank you for your interest and I hope you enjoy the work.
