To seek beauty, harmony and a little humor is my joy.
I work in a variety of media, my preference being oils, watercolors, and dry pastels. I almost always begin my work with a rough or detailed sketch. Once a concept has been decided upon, I will transfer the image to a substrate whether paper or canvas, and begin my project. While working on the project I allow myself to riff on the subject as I proceed.
I was raised in Southern Africa, (Zimbabwe), and moved to the United States as a teenager. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. During high school and later I continued studying at the Art Students League in New York City, studying the Frank Reilly method of painting with Jack Faragasso. My commissioned portraits, still-lifes and abstract paintings hang in the homes and offices of patrons throughout the United States. I have shown my work in various galleries in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Concurrently, I teach drawing and painting at Segerstrom High School in Santa Ana, CA.
