This is from a series of ShadowBoxes I have been making that incorporate resin, glass, plastic , and metal flakes to create pieces that use the changing qualities of light to create dynamic effects that shimmer and change. Although the elements of the sculpture/painting are static the light reflected within the box is not and brings the elements to life. It took a long time to develop the technique and there is some risk involved in creating the artwork because the process is somewhat experimental, which makes each piece unique. In this particular one I constructed the "floral" element and then incorporated it into the resin and plastic. It has cosmic and aquatic elements to it as well. The abstract nature of the piece allows individual interpretation so I hope that you enjoy it. The piece should not be shown in direct sunlight to avoid long term fading of the colors.
My name is Robert Nasatka and I am a NY artist living in the Hamptons. I am classically trained in Sculpture and Painting at Boston University, where I graduated Cum Laud, Fine Arts in 1997. I have been in over 50 exhibitions including @ American University, The Parrish Art Museum, Suffolk Community College, Fitchburg Art Museum, Tanglewood Institute, The Boy's Club, and many galleries. I was also runner up in Swatch Watches artist design series and a finalist in H&M's NYC Window Competition. I also have several pieces in Museum collections and have collaborated with famous artists and designers, including work shown in Hamptons Style and Instyle Magazines. .I don't make or market one specific type of work and some of my work is highly experimental and ephemeral and blurs the line between concept and reality. Since becoming a father I have been dedicating more time to market friendly and design based art and concepts as well as custom jewelry, but still like to paint and see what happens. Thank you for your interest.
