Ready to Hang
A friend had suggested doing an abstract of the queen Mary quite a while before I decided to look at it as a project.
But once I had made the choice, I didn't want to lose its character by making it an abstract drawing, I felt, seeing it every day almost, that I wanted to make an image of it as though it had just been launched, sailing to its first destination! Bring life to its now sadly idle form.
I love Art Deco style in general, so I worked with that in mind to make my vision of this beautiful ship seem like it's was literally flying out of the drawing!, as though it's speed was about to bring it into the room!
I reminded myself constantly that it would be a representation, of that ship, not an engineering rendering, so I really tried to bring out its recognisable character, and I would hope that it shows through to you, the viewer!
Please note: This piece is matted and ready to hang.
Hello!.. I'm Rimi, and I'm happy that you're taking the time to browse my artworks. I was an architectural technologist, until a few years ago I found my passion in mixed media ink drawings, photography and sketching. I usually work on quite a few separate pieces at the same time, as I find that my drawings & designs develop fairly randomly, each piece changing and evolving as I look it and add to it, so that by the time it's done, it's quite different to my original vision but at the same time, it just feels right (if that makes sense!..)
