While on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale one day, the wind picked up and the sky darkened except for the horizon. As I looked out toward the ocean, I saw the waves growing from the strength of the wind. Then, I suddenly saw this enormous wave appear. It was so large that the light from the horizon lit part of the water at the base of the wave.
This whole experience was the inspiration for this painting.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, I am a self-taught, Pittsburgh contemporary acrylics painter. I began painting after my move to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1982. The 1980s brought about a change in art, design and architecture and no place was it more evident than in Miami. I was so inspired by it all, I wanted to be part of it. Miami's diversity in the arts led to my need to be diverse in my varied styles of painting. While committing to an individual style of painting, I find that for me, it leads to boredom. The process of creating for me should be as fun and enjoyable as those collecting art or it will be evident in my final piece. Over the years, I have shown my art at various venues in FL, PA, CA, MI and other locations nationwide.
