On a wonderful trip to San Gimignano in Tuscany, we were walking through the town and I spotted this quiet street scene and knew it would make a great watercolor painting. The old buildings were bathed in sunlight and this cast some interesting shapes and shadows on the houses. The buildings also had some interesting architectural features such as a small arch window.
Welcome! I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio where you will find nature inspired watercolor paintings. Painting with watercolors is a subtractive process. The only light is the white of the paper. Each time the brush touches the paper light is lost. That is one of the challenges of watercolors. I'm Richard Strimple and all the work you see is done by me. I'm very much inspired by my travels and surroundings. Whenever I visit somewhere, there's always a watercolor painting that comes from that trip. I love early morning walks when the sun just comes up and the light is fabulous. I try to inject the feel of the moment into each of my watercolor paintings. Please shout if you need to know anything or if you have an idea for a watercolor painting. I would love to hear from you.
