Ready to Hang

He Watches She Looks was made using a plaster transfer technique that I developed using Hydrocal, an extremely hard kind of plaster and dry pigments. The resulting painting is essentially a fresco. It is ready to hang, comes with a certificate of authenticity and is signed on the back.

Richard Longhi has been making art in Chicago since 1983. He studied Fine Art at the U of I, Chicago and Writing and Philosophy at the U of Mo, Columbia. He is an intrepid explorer and is particularly interested in the art of ancient cultures. He has traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico, Central America and South America, Native American Hopi and Navajo lands and First Nations lands in Canada. His early work was mostly oil paint on canvas but in 1989 he began to experiment with fresco and secco techniques. He also toyed with alternative photographic transfer techniques. His imagery is informed by Jungian Psychology of Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. He is influenced by explorations in archeology, philosophy and physics, studying Fractals, Strange Attractors, String, Chaos and Emergence theories. Early imagery continues to appear in his most current work. Richard has been in numerous one-man shows and exhibits. His work is in both private and corporate collections.
