The idea of this piece comes from Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson. As I ponder my own existence and how I fit in this unimaginable vastness, I paint. In this painting I go on a soul searching journey and explore my connection to the universe. My vehicle is acrylic paint and I drive it with a brush. At the end of this journey I find I am a piece of the whole and it is not complete with out me.
Randall Jason Irvin is an artist who paints and creates abstract art. He lives and makes art in Belfast Maine. Originally Jason is from Atlanta, Georgia. Jason started his art education at Atlanta College of Art. He left his sophomore year for Athens, Georgia to form Vibeulator, a musical venture that led to writing, collaborating, and performing in the vibrant Athens music scene for several years. During this time Jason was also perfecting his culinary skills at the highly esteemed vegetarian restaurant “The Grit”, where he rose to head chef and crafted innovative vegetarian dishes with his signature southern artistic flare. Jason then redirected his creative energy back into painting, exploring and discovering his medium and style. It was at this time when he changed occupations to become a licensed plumber. Jason developed a ridged endurance and a keen eye for detail while working as a skilled craftsman which he would then apply to his developing painting techniques. As he is an artist and a skilled craftsman you can see a construction like quality in his work. Jason has regularly exhibited work at galleries and businesses around Athens. Jason moved back to Atlanta in 2010 and purchased a studio loft in the Castleberry Hills Art District in Atlanta. In this thriving art scene, he was able to produce and sell his work from his studio. It was there Jason met his partner Nell, and they have recently relocated to Belfast Maine with their son Hawthorne.
