The reason I chose the title for this piece is that it depicts a mounted scout, exploring a new land.
I created this piece as part of an ongoing "Life Force" series, which became a path from darker themes and imagery towards a more hopeful and joyful visions.
The painting is ready to hang on a wire-hung, gallery canvas with no frame.
My name is Raf Podowski. I am a Vango artist. Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I'm an artist with a lifetime love of scientific exploration. I've always loved ink. My notebooks are full of pen drawings where my subconscious unfolds in fantastic scenes. While others use their smartphones for social media sites, I pull out my notepad and ballpoint pen, and let my hand create whatever my mind imagines. These creations embrace both technology and symbiotic relationships in nature, represented by merging of machine, animal and plant forms into hybrid organisms. Some of these ideas lead to more detailed renditions with acrylic inks and calligraphy pens, others to larger paintings. Recently, I've enjoyed creating fantastic bio-mechanical creatures based on current technology trends, yet rooted in the classic science fiction of mechanical thinking machines. I want to peel away the skin, or cover layer, and see the underlying structures and organs at the heart of each entity.
