I created this piece as a study of grays. Every gray is mixed from black and white, rather than an existing gray in a tube. I wanted to have more control over the shades than what is commercially available.

My inspiration in creating this piece was the stunning presence this object has, without the benefit of a person. In a sense, this piece is a portrait, but a portrait of an inanimate object. When watching the Thor & Avengers films, the hammer seems to have a life of its own, almost as a character in its own right.

Everything in this painting is gray except the subtle brown on the handle. The beautiful thing about achromatic work is the emphasis it places on any color added in, no matter how light a touch.

My name is Raechyl - welcome to my shop! I see the world through fantasy and story, and believe the best art always comes from a place deep inside. Art must inspire emotion, and the more I paint, the more the human face pulls me. There is such beauty and expression in a face. Most of my paintings begin with textured and stained background. These backgrounds are expressive, and I usually don't have an and result in mind. When I look at a completed background, I rifle through images in my head that I've been meaning to paint until one just feels right. It is this process (or perhaps, lack of process?) that I believe accounts for my best work. If it was meant to be, it will happen! I was born in San Diego, and still lives there, though she dreams of someday moving back to London, where I studied for three years.
