The reason I chose the title for this piece comes both from the point in the Disney film Cinderella that is depicted, as well as a deeper double meaning. The black foundation of the image and the lines running through it project an ominous quality to the moment.
I created this piece in a desire to produce Disney art that isn't typical. I was really just playing around with concepts when I hit on the stripes.
The white lines are deliberately unevenly spaced to force a darker, surreal vibe to a light and romantic moment in the film. I wanted to capture the transient nature of the moment before Midnight.
My name is Raechyl - welcome to my shop! I see the world through fantasy and story, and believe the best art always comes from a place deep inside. Art must inspire emotion, and the more I paint, the more the human face pulls me. There is such beauty and expression in a face. Most of my paintings begin with textured and stained background. These backgrounds are expressive, and I usually don't have an and result in mind. When I look at a completed background, I rifle through images in my head that I've been meaning to paint until one just feels right. It is this process (or perhaps, lack of process?) that I believe accounts for my best work. If it was meant to be, it will happen! I was born in San Diego, and still lives there, though she dreams of someday moving back to London, where I studied for three years.
