This was the scene from my balcony this summer. They never determined the cause of the Burro Fire but watching it glow at night and the smoke during the day was amazing. Fire crews had difficultly reaching the fire because of the rugged terrain.
Thankfully two weeks later a drenching monsoon rain came and helped extinguish the fire completely.

Rachael Lamb is a professional painter and has moved recently from the coast of Maine to the desert of southern Arizona. This move was an enormous change of lifestyle and environment but it provides unmatched motivation and inspiration to paint the new desert landscape and render some of its most interesting qualities. Rachael spends most days painting, spending time with family and riding bikes in the desert where there is never a lack of bizarre and fascinating subject matter.
