The weather in Tucson during the monsoon season is one of the reasons I chose to live here. Every day thunderstorms roll off the mountains and fill the air with the most amazing smells that I have never experienced anywhere else. Anyone who has traveled here during this time of the year will remember distinctly the smell of creosote bushes after the rain and the sound of the distant thunder.
This piece was created with that in mind.
Rachael Lamb is a professional painter and has moved recently from the coast of Maine to the desert of southern Arizona. This move was an enormous change of lifestyle and environment but it provides unmatched motivation and inspiration to paint the new desert landscape and render some of its most interesting qualities. Rachael spends most days painting, spending time with family and riding bikes in the desert where there is never a lack of bizarre and fascinating subject matter.
