THIS ARTWORK WAS DONE END OF LAST YEAR. AUTUMN HAD JUST ENDED AND WINTER WAS BEGINING. DRIVING OUT OF THE CITY IT WOULD BE A COMMON SIGHT TO SEE FILTERED SUNLIGHT THROUGH THE GOLDEN TREES. THE LEAVES TURNING A RICH AUBURN THEN YELLOW BEFORE FALLING OFF.
I am a self taught artist and have been sketching since I can remember. I started painting also at the age of seven. . I did my Masters in Psychology as I was not allowed to go to an art school. Art was not a career for girls in India when I was growing up. I moved to South Africa in 1994. Though struggling for my survival in an alien country and trying to organize my commodity trading buisness there I found time to paint virtually on a daily basis. I found the bright colors of Frica inspiring along with movement and the feeling of space. I painted for mysekf with no thought of putting my art out for public viewing. In 2004 I was encouraged by the Consul General of the Indian Consulate in Johannesburg to have my first exhibition. This was sponsored by the Indian Embassy in South Africa. I have subsequently had many exhibitions. in India as well as Internationally. These have been mainly solos and a few group shows. I had the opportunity to participate at UNESCO Paris along with 11 other eminent International artists in Oct 2015. I recently had two solos at San Fransisco and Chicago respectively.. I am currently in Delhi, India
