Ready to Hang
This painting is covered and protected by a beautiful, shiny and translucent layer of resin! This resin protects the piece from any harm and also gives the impression of this painting being perpetually wet and inviting. Unlike my previous two resin pieces, this painting used a "dirty pour" technique which mixes the resin with the paint during the painting process. This is what gives the painting an interesting look of almost oil in water.
This piece is a completely unique and original abstract acrylic painting on canvas. It is an exercise in fluid painting. As mentioned above, this painting incorporates a technique of mixing acrylic paints with resin during the painting process. The result is very unique in that it gives the appearance of oil in water. It also has a topographical feel, like an aerial view of the earth and the oceans with a massive oil spill. It is beautiful while reminding us of environmental issues facing our planet. 111th in my new series of abstract acrylic works.
Note: This painting is painted on canvas and does not come framed, however the painting continues on the edges of the canvas and is covered by a beautiful, shiny layer of resin, therefore framing is not necessary or recommended. It is hang ready and protected from any harm. Painting in pictures might not be perfectly to scale.

Artist Preston M. Smith (PMS) found himself cross-eyed and with no depth perception as a child. This was the "lens" through which he developed his unique visual perspective of the world, which he now shares as a painter. Preston’s work has transitioned from moody pop surrealist paintings into vibrantly colorful, tactile, highly textured and almost "edible"abstract works. His mantra for his abstract work is "color, texture, and beauty", and his work and life have been an expression of moving from darkness into light. Preston’s work has been showcased alongside David Lynch and at the Inaugural Purple Ball for President Obama’s Inauguration in 2009, where he was commissioned to paint 12 portraits of the President. Very recently his work was selected by a panel of curators as a winner in the 1st 2018 ArtSlant Artprize Showcase. His work has also been on display at the world famous La Luz De Jesus Gallery, and in numerous exhibitions throughout Los Angeles and across the country. Preston's was also recently the subject of a documentary short directed by Tony Lugo entitled "Negativity To Creativity" and his work is in private collections around the world as well in the homes of celebrities such as Ed Harris, Ashley Judd, Josh Lucas, and so forth.
