This piece was inspired by the idea that our past never leaves us. We can, however, find a place for it ... be at peace with it. It's what makes us unique and interesting. The key is the understand it, learn from it, embrace it, and realize that we have so much more to give with all that in our back pocket. For so long, I wanted to erase my past, but I learned over the years that it's best to face it and use it to create a path forward. Rather than being haunted, this woman is protected by the faces (her past) hovering around her.
I’m an entrepreneur, quality management/assurance consultant to the Fortune 500, an artist, writer, and professional speaker. I have degrees in biological sciences and quality systems engineering. I’m the author of five books, and my art has been represented and shown by galleries in key US markets and abroad. My technical and creative accomplishments may seem unrelated at first glance but they all draw from my ability to utilize both sides of my brain to quickly find connecting dots in chaotic scenarios, both situational and visual. I grew up in an emotional mess and survived by actively searching out “dots” I could connect and use to move forward. I ultimately succeeded through a combination of grit, determination, and risk-taking balanced by logic and creativity. Now, I continue to search for beauty, logic, and meaning in chaotic situations and images. This focus coupled with my education and experience informs my ability to design creatively (painting and writing) as well as on a process level (quality systems) as applied to both the corporate world and life in general. My paintings are generally a blend of acrylic, ink, and pastel. I use my fingers for the majority of the work. I work intuitively with a focus on color and composition. Galleries in New York City, Philadelphia, Cleveland, California, Louisiana, Italy, and Central America have represented and shown my work. It has been acquired by two Italian museums.
