Ready to Hang
I just caught our two-month-old baby girl napping out trailing yards of cloth like someone in a Klimt painting. Irresistible image.
Born 1948. Recluse rent refugee from London living in France for the last twenty years, and before that in Catalonia, Spain. A few exhibitions here and there, but nothing to write home about. I paint, play viola and learn languages: more or less what I was doing at school all those years ago. In Spain, in the 90s I painted landscape for seven years, making a decent living. Then in Toulouse I explored my weird side by applying the techniques of free jazz to canvas, selling just one painting in fifteen years. I spent most of that time learning 3D design and honing my jazz skills on the wholetone panpipes. Lately I have been getting back to regular painting with portraits of my children and pictures of the world around me. I love the surface of water and the things that clouds do. And now I see one critic has noted "a distinct lack of the caustic and the provocative, the outrageous or the fiercely critical" at this year's Turner Prize. Well that's fantastic news!.
