My art reflects the joy I take in creating. I love the process of creating art as well as the result. My goal is to add to the world by creating beauty.

I go, and thus my art goes, where the process takes me. While I always start a new piece with an idea, a concept, a design or a goal in mind, only rarely does the result match my intentions exactly. This is a result of the qualities of my chosen medium, for I create by adding paint and ink to resin and painting with colored resin.

Creating with colored resin requires certain flexibility, a carefully cultivated adroitness and a savoir-faire attitude for this fascinating medium rarely does what I had originally expected it to. Experimentation, as well as a willingness to fail, is key.

The immediacy of resin and its flowing movement are what make this difficult medium so appealing to me. As with life, there is only so much control that I have over resin. Thus, I am forced, compelled, to "go with the flow".

For Patricia Finley, life, as the act of creating art, isn't a cool or impersonal pursuit. It's in-the-moment. All or nothing. As her entire life will attest. Born in Iowa, an alumna of Arizona State University, Patricia's professional life was dedicated to a successful trial law practice. Following a move to Colorado, her longtime love of art became an overwhelming passion. After initially pursuing an affinity for works on paper, curiosity drove her to resin and pigment. And from first touch, there was no turning back. An award-winning artist in a unique and challenging medium, Patricia has participated in numerous group, duo and solo shows. Her art can be found in collections from Alaska to Boston, from Australia to England. Recently her pieces were featured on the DIY Network's "Raise the Roof" series.
