"The Song" is an original artwork by artist Olya Meek, made with pastel, color pencil and permanent color marker on charcoal paper; 17 x 11 in. (43,2 cm x 27,9 cm).
Inspired by classical, dark-romantic rock, as well as Russian Eastern-Orthodox Church Choir music, this is a drawing of a young lady, perhaps a maiden, playing a harp in a garden during early Spring and at dusk. She is deeply into the song she is playing, completely emerged into the moment and music. A light nearby she is sitting is coming from somewhere, perhaps a bonfire. The night is peaking at the threshold of the end of this day. The beautiful cheery blossoms on the tree, under which the young lady is playing her song, contrast beautifully to the slowly arising ink-blue sky. The night is near, but with her so is novelty, inspiration and adventure.
