Ready to Hang
This piece was exhibited at Manhattan Beach Art Center at the group art show in January 2017. After the exhibition, the director of the center asked me if he could exhibit it at Manhattan Beach City Hall. I gladly accepted his request. In May 2017, I finally received my painting back from the city hall. Now I am posting this on Vango Art website. To create this piece, I visited Manhattan Beach around the sunset time and walked from north side of the beach toward Palos Verdes. The city lights on the hills looked phenomenon. As I started walking, I begin to hear the music in my head...
Recipient of O-1 Artist visa, an individual with extraordinary ability. Born in Nagoya, Japan, Nori Shirasu began painting at an early age. In 1997, after receiving a bachelor's degree in architecture from Chubu University, he moved to California. He earned a master’s degree in studio arts from California State University, Los Angeles in 2004. Nori has participated in numerous studio and commercial projects throughout Los Angeles including the LA Art Show 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the LA Artcore exhibition held at the Art Brewery, a charity work with actor Danny Glover and City of Hope as well as painting several murals for American Apparel. Nori teaches calligraphy, Sumi-e & Anime, and leads workshops in these traditional Asian Arts at many area museums and institutions. Nori is also an accomplished dancer and performing artist. He draws on his nationality, experiences in America and love of jazz & Hiphop music and dance as inspiration for his fine art.
