Ready to Hang
Another in a short series of "hands and heads." I focused on compositions of disembodied hands and heads in order to explore ideas about consciousness expressed through often the most expressive parts of the figure. This series was also intended to help develop my ability to paint hands through practice.
I start from photos. I sketch a composition and transfer to canvas. When applying paint, I forget the original photos and follow my intuition to abstract the colors or forms as a means to develop a unique vision.
I lived until the age of ten on an old tabacco farm where I had run of the fields and forest trails by bike or by foot. I attended college at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado and later recieved a B.A. from UNC Asheville in art and an almost minor in Geology. I currently live and work in Arden, N.C. from my home studio. I'm currently (Nov 2017) raising money for Arts 4 Life. Help me support this wonderful organization that brings art into children's hospitals in NC! For the Month of Nov. I will donate 15% of profit to this campaign from Vango art sales. Thank you!
