Ready to Hang
This elk skull painting was inspired by my move to Colorado, and my visits to a town called Estes Park, which is known for the huge herd of elk living in the town.
I love to incorporate silver and gold leaf in my art to add more dimension and motion to the piece.
Whether it is something I see outside, or online, or anywhere for that matter, an image will stick in my head...it usually has to bounce around in my mind for a few months before I can get a handle on what I create. When the mood hits me, I usually take a few days and create many paintings at once.
I love nature, and get most of my inspiration from there.
I have loved art since I can remember. I grew up in a tiny town in the Colorado mountains, and always craved city life, so when I had the chance to leave town to go to college for art, I jumped at the chance. I graduated with a BFA from Colorado State University, and until now have been lost as to what I want to do with it. Over the last many years of jumping around job to job, place to place, I am finally in a position to follow my passion. Painting. Living in the Pacific Northwest for 15 years, and now back in Colorado. I am surrounded by natural beauty, and that is what inspires my creativity.
