Waterside Terrace is a breathtaking landscape scene crafted from crisp aluminum that has been carefully etched with a handheld grinder. The scene depicts a thin forest of bare winter trees on a wavy surface divided by flowing water. Countless scattered clouds dot the sky overhead. All of this is achieved in light-responsive monochrome, with highlights and lowlights controlled by the reflections on the metallic surface.
I studied fine art and art history for two years at the University of Cincinnati and earned a Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Wrist State. I interned for the US Air Fore researching superconductivity. After graduating I worked at GE developing jet engine parts, but eventually my metalworking skill and artist passion regrouped as I left to become a full time artist. I look to nature, architecture, technology and everyday life in my city (Cincinnati) for inspiration in my work. I love to constantly hone and enhance my expertise and push the boundaries of grinding, coloring and forming metal. I make sure every piece that leaves my studio is a striking representation of my body of work.
