This is a multi-layer abstract wall sculpture, crafted from hand-ground/etched aluminum panels cut into a variety of geometric shapes. The colors are applied in a variety of techniques with various opaque and transparent acrylic paints for an very interesting, textural display.A holographic effect is created when light passes through the layers of color and reflects off of the grooves of the grind patterns. This piece makes a gorgeous urban contemporary artwork with a bold statement, incorporating a rainbow of hand-mixed colors with a black acrylic vignette, thinner and reactive treatments, industrial style finishing techniques and a glossy clear coat.
I studied fine art and art history for two years at the University of Cincinnati and earned a Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Wrist State. I interned for the US Air Fore researching superconductivity. After graduating I worked at GE developing jet engine parts, but eventually my metalworking skill and artist passion regrouped as I left to become a full time artist. I look to nature, architecture, technology and everyday life in my city (Cincinnati) for inspiration in my work. I love to constantly hone and enhance my expertise and push the boundaries of grinding, coloring and forming metal. I make sure every piece that leaves my studio is a striking representation of my body of work.
