Blue Fury is a spectacular abstract done by Nicholas Yust in rich, vibrant blues over a swirling grind pattern. A holographic effect is created when light passes through the layers of color and reflects off of the curving grooves of the grind pattern. This piece makes a gorgeous contemporary artwork with a bold statement, incorporating a variety of cool blues, a black acrylic vignette, thinner and reactive treatments, industrial style finishing techniques and a glossy clear coat. Please Note: Nicholas added a custom black metal floating frame to this piece after some of the photos were taken. So just to confirm, YES this piece does include the frame as seen in the main photo.
I studied fine art and art history for two years at the University of Cincinnati and earned a Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Wrist State. I interned for the US Air Fore researching superconductivity. After graduating I worked at GE developing jet engine parts, but eventually my metalworking skill and artist passion regrouped as I left to become a full time artist. I look to nature, architecture, technology and everyday life in my city (Cincinnati) for inspiration in my work. I love to constantly hone and enhance my expertise and push the boundaries of grinding, coloring and forming metal. I make sure every piece that leaves my studio is a striking representation of my body of work.
