Nathalie Gribinski is a self-taught Parisienne artist, living in Chicago since 1992.

"My work sends me creative oxygen, lets me play, and liberates my mind and spirit. It is both a compelling need and a necessary fulfillment. My aim is to express freedom in all its forms, decimating the limits and monotony of everyday life, creating visual excitement and evoking spontaneous emotion. I am ever attentive to aesthetics, attempting to achieve a signature continuity in uniformity, harmony and sensual elegance through the use of positive and negative space. From my first day studying design, I have been consumed by the power of lines, curves, shapes and colors; the dynamism and rhythm in layered composition akin to imaginary musical sounds and dancing notes."

Painting is freedom and passion. But it is also an experience, conveying a distinct mood, a feeling, a conflict, a desire, a need, a dream, a silence, a hopeful light in the dark, a storm, a quietude, a love story, a simple story, a beginning, never an end, a symphony, a drama, a joy, a pain, a scream, a risk, an emotion, a voyage, a bridge, a season, a moment, an eternity, an answer, a comfort, a passion, a journey, a sacrifice, a struggle, a balance, a game, a poem, a paradise, a treasure, a gift, a reflection, an enigma, a solution, a hope, a salvation, a cure.

Nathalie Gribinski (b. 1963 in Algiers, Algeria) is a French-American artist living in Chicago, USA. After winning a law degree in Paris, moving to Chicago in 1992, she earned a B.A. in Art at Columbia College. Her fine-art has evolved in lock-step with her graphic art. Ms. Gribinski's artistry was shaped in the heart of Paris - particularly Montparnasse, the faubourg which was nascent to the new artistic expression of the 1920s; les Années Folles (the Crazy Years). Her formative years were spent vacationing in Provence and Avignon, amongst those searching for wonder in the heat of lavender fields and ancient castles, turning scenes from the past into her signature "Tourlicoulis world". The artistic tension of these uniquely stylized creations - inspirations from the "old" South of France and hyper-modern abstract forms- gives her body of work an active shard of Van Gogh. Other influences evoke Miró, Kandinsky, Klee, Bacon, and Picasso.
