I paint because painting brings me joy.
I don't like to talk a lot about my paintings because at some point one might as well become a writer. For the same reason I prefer simple titles. Painting has to be able to survive on its own, without fancy titles and lengthy descriptions.
At the same time it has to be more than skin deep cosmetic exercise in paint. It has to appeal to viewer emotionally, but that only happens when the painting finds its viewer. Even the best masterpiece will touch only some people, while leaving others indifferent.
Just like every person has their ideal match somewhere on this planet, so does every piece of art has its ideal viewer somewhere in the crowd. When the two meet, they recognize each other immediately...
My name is Neringa Maxwell. I've been making art ever since I remember. My favorite medium is oil and sketching with anything that's handy. Lately I started experimenting with acrylics as well. My favorite subject is people- though I do a lot of landscapes, still-life paintings, and fantasy art as well. I am fascinated with modern art, but most of the time while trying to stay abstract, I'll sneak in some representational detail, because painting the things we know and recognize is so much fun! I hope you like my art. Thank you for visiting my portfolio.
