The “Shahnameh” or "The Book of Kings" is written by the persian poet, Ferdowsi between c. 977 and 1010 CE. Therefore, it is considered the collective memory of Pre -Islamic Iran, when Iranians were Zoroastrians. Ferdowsi collected the oral histories, traditions and fables of the region and wove them together. Shahnameh contains many stories that became deeply embedded in the Iranian culture.
This illustration is about one of the stories in Shahnameh. In this story, Simorgh(the wise bird) mentors Zal(one of the character's in Shahnameh).
First I used Acrylic and colored pencil on paper to creat the illustrations. Then I added persian motifs to them in computer.
This piece is going to be a modern frame-less print which would be mounted flush against the wall.
