This painting was painted live on May 20, 2017 in Vancouver, WA. I saw a picture of a tsunami warning sign and a huge wave behind it quickly approaching a city. The huge wave represents the overwhelming love of God. The wave is coming, it is inescapable. There is no getting away from it. God’s love is represented as water because Jesus gives us living water that gushes of endless life. (John 4:14).
God in this hour is releasing His love like a tidal wave. It’s powerful, overwhelming, it crushes fear, it’s unavoidable. It is also refreshing and nourishing.
Nathan Rhoads is an artist working in Portland, Oregon. He earned his BFA in 1998 from Point Loma Nazarene University. His primary medium of choice is oil. Nathan's work ranges from abstract to representational. He is a live painter, creating beautiful works of art on the spot at events. He takes on a lot of commissioned projects too, and lately, has been painting beautiful pet portraits. The spirit realm is his muse. Most of his work deals with the spirit realm whether it be representational or abstract in nature. When not painting, he spends time with his 2 boys and dog exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest. His favorite art quote is from Chuck Close: "Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work."
