Spring greens can be breathtaking in the Midwest. As I drove past the Brandywine Country Club Golf Course in Peninsula, Ohio, I was stunned by the intensity of the greens. I quickly pulled over and took a reference photo and then went home and painted this young willow before I could forget the rich saturation of color. It was painted entirely with a painting knife creating an interesting texture and layers of color.
My name is Nancy Gregg and I live and paint in the beautiful state of Ohio. My works are created with my fingers and painting knives. Many layers are used; sometimes the paint is allowed to dry completely between layers so when the next color is added, the previous colors show through in all their glory. Othe times wet on wet techniques are used when the colors need to mix on the canvas. I'm drawn to vivid colors and enhance ones that are usually more dull or muted. Many things spark an idea for a painting so I'm always exploring new ideas. Often I'm moved by a small aspect of a scene and will base a painting on that and create the rest in my imagination.
