Whatever is tangled or layered captures my imagination. Branches, vines, grasses...
My process often creates contradictory impulses - approaching and withdrawing, overlapping and pulling apart, density and lightness, beauty and menace. I create history in the work as I erase and redraw, or paint over and under the elements time and again.
This piece is a fictional landscape from my Toxic Beauty series, and is a rich mixture of charcoal and some pastel. I'll ship promptly in a sturdy mailing tube so you can frame it to match your taste. Works on paper are a great way to make an impact!
