This charcoal drawing was done when my daughter was an infant and spent a lot of time in my studio- I learned to get a lot done when she was napping!
I loved the way the light coming in the partly open window created a dramatic shadow on the mesh wall.
This piece is on buff colored Stonehenge paper- a favorite of mine since it stands up to so much erasing and redrawing.

Nanci has lived in California, Oregon, Maine, Iowa, Washington, Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, finally settling in Colorado. Most of those moves were for grad school or teaching jobs, and each place left an imprint of its own particular visual qualities. She taught all levels of painting and drawing at University of Iowa, Morehead State, the College of William and Mary and Colorado State University. She has been awarded two Colorado state arts council fellowships, numerous merit awards and exhibited work nationally for over 25 years.
