Capturing the gestures of humans or natural elements is a constant fascination and challenge in my work, and throughout all my painting, color is an evocative emotional component.
These vines seem to dance and interact as they fall towards the bottom of the painting...and the image does continue around the edges of the painting.
Nanci has lived in California, Oregon, Maine, Iowa, Washington, Kentucky, Virginia, Maryland, finally settling in Colorado. Most of those moves were for grad school or teaching jobs, and each place left an imprint of its own particular visual qualities. She taught all levels of painting and drawing at University of Iowa, Morehead State, the College of William and Mary and Colorado State University. She has been awarded two Colorado state arts council fellowships, numerous merit awards and exhibited work nationally for over 25 years.
