Sometimes the air around the thing is as important as the thing itself. This amaryllis, drawing was done from some bulbs I forced in my studio. I love the way they dance in the space. Will be shipped in a sturdy 4" tube and needs matting/framing.
Living on the front range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado has had a huge impact on my work.. from the prairie grasses to agricultural structures and beyond.
I'm intrigued by contradictory impulses and gestures - approaching and withdrawing, overlapping and pulling apart, density and lightness, beauty and menace.
There are often many hidden layers and other conversations underneath what you see on the surface. I create history in the work as I erase and redraw, or paint over and under the elements time and again.
At this point in a 30 plus year career, success to me means seeing the work go out to good homes in the world.
Thanks for having a look, and feel free to get in touch with any questions or to see more images of the work.
