When I was traveling around Mexico, I saw many iguanas freely roaming around. On the tree branches, rocks, in the caves, on the beach... Those creatures were so fascinating to me. They were calm and behaved like the owners of the land. They were here long before humans came. They were vivid and still at the same time.
Upon my return to the U.S., I immediately started the oil painting iguana series. I named each iguana. This one is called Escobar.
This series were exhibited at the Atlanta Zoo during the Wild on the Rocks event at the reptile house.

Bio: 1985 – Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia (Leningrad, USSR). The oldest of 5 children; 1993 to 2003 – Attended the Saint Petersburg Art School named after Boris Kustodiev. Graduated with a major in Painting and a minor in Sculpture; 2000 – Attended the “New Names” Summer Art School for honor-rolled students in Moscow, Russia, took classes from the leading Russian Art professors; 2007 – Graduated with honors form Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University with a BA degree in Information Design; 2007 – Moved to the US; 2007 to 2018 - Participated annually in Piedmont Park Arts Festival, Starving Artist Expo, Rome Art Walk, Chiaha Arts and Crafts Festival, Spring Art Market, Winter Art Market, and other shows and festivals throughout Georgia.
